Business by the Book

Psalm 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; …

The fourth Principle for Prosperity is to delight in the Law of the Lord. Notice the word “delight”; not just know the law of the Lord, not just obey the law of the Lord, not just understand the law of the Lord, but “delight” in the law of the Lord. If one delights in His laws they will perform, obey, submit, conform, follow, and adapt to them.

Also notice the word “but”. Instead of walking in the counsel of the ungodly, or standing in the way of sinners, or sitting in the seat of the scornful, delight in the Law of the Lord. A parent delights in their new born baby.  Newlyweds delight themselves in their new spouse. A pastor is delighted over those who grow in Christ under their ministry. A businessperson delights over new business, a big contract, or a successful campaign. A golfer delights in making a birdie or eagle.  A politician delights in being elected or re-elected. And a person who wins true prosperity delights in the law of Lord.

Largely the Law of the Lord is ignored, rejected, scorned, held in low esteem, and believed to be outdated; it is seldom the source of delight. But, His laws are to be a delight to His people. A great reason to delight in the law of the Lord is that it will bring happiness. Proverbs 29:18 proves this: …he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Learn the law of the Lord, obey the law of the Lord, and delighting in His law will follow.

The practical laws of the Lord like turning the other cheek, the golden rule of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, loving thy neighbor as thyself, avenging not yourself, preferring the other above yourself, and many, many others have never brought reproach or tarnished a reputation. But ignoring these laws have! No one will ever be eternally sorry for learning, obeying, and delighting in the laws of the Lord, never.
