Minding Your Thoughts
A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life
December 15
1 Chronicles 28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
“You don’t understand.” Probably not, but God does. He understands everything; He even understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. Too many times people try to “put one over on God.” They make promises to Him that they never intend to keep only to “trick” the Lord into doing something for them. Really? Trick God? It can’t happen. He is all knowing, he cannot be fooled for He even knows the innermost thoughts of a person’s mind.
In Genesis 18:19 God said of Abraham: For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. God knew Abraham’s thoughts; the Lord knew He could trust this man.
The Lord told Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. (I Samuel 16:7) When God looks upon the heart He sees, knows, and understands the imaginations of the thoughts of the heart.
In John 2:24-25 we are told of Christ: But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. Yes, indeed God knows what is in man for even the thoughts of their imaginations are known of Him.
The depths of this truth are fathomless; it is so deep that all of the brainpower in the world combined could not begin to understand all the ramifications of such truth. In fact, this depth is deepened to the power of infinity when it is understood that God even knows the imaginations of the thoughts of a man that that man himself does not even know he has.
May the Lord bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
