Business by the Book

Proverbs 16:26  He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

First and foremost you work for yourself. You are your own industry. You have a product which is made up of your time, your talent, your ability, your knowledge, your skill, and your personality. Whether you are creative or analytical you are your product. Not only does each worker need to understand this, each employer also needs to understand this.

Being your own industry, endeavor to sale your product for as much as possible. Loyalty to an organization is well and good as long as the loyalty is equal on both sides, the worker and the employer. Being your own industry, do all that is possible to improve your product:  learn more, work more, create more, think more, produce more. In short, do more, and then expect more in return for your labor. Being your own industry, develop core values that will ensure dependability. There are many ways to enhance the product of you.

Someone once said, “There is a difference between ten years’ experience and one year worth of experience ten times.”   One improves the value of their industry, the other does not. The choice is yours; after all, you are your own product.
