Business by the Book
Ecclesiastes 5:3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.
Good news! Your dreams can come true! It can become reality through an abundance of business on your part. This is why so many dreams fall by the wayside: the busyness that it takes to make a dream come true is not performed. This is God’s word on the matter. He gave Solomon wisdom, and Solomon wrote these words as He was moved by the Holy Ghost (II Peter 1:21).
A multitude of business takes a multitude of energy. Nothing is created without the transfer of energy. As important as the word “energy” is, it is not used one time in Scripture. Power is used 260 times. Business takes power; it takes determination, drive, ambition, purpose, resolve, will power, tenacity, persistence, insistence, and perseverance.
A multitude of business seems to indicate not only much business, but varied business. Those who accomplish their dreams are aided by understanding multiple business practices, varied business models, and a multitude of business tactics. If one thing does not work, try another, then another and another. Try a hundred ways, then, two hundred or more, keep working at it until something works.
More than thirty years ago my wife and I had dinner with some high school friends at their house. They married about a year after us, but we both had children about the same age. I noticed in the corner of their living room a board that was about two feet by three feet and on this board there were multi colored wires (a little heavier than coat hangers) running all over the place. Up, down, curved, straight, angled, looped over the top of others, under others yet, just a mixed up jumble of wires. On these wires were little blocks of wood, some were round, some square, some were angled, and some were bigger than others. These blocks were multicolored, each had a hole in them, and they hung loose on the wires.
I asked my friend what it was and he said, “It is a game for our daughter.” He began explaining the game and I asked him, “How do you win?” He said, “There is no winning or losing, just playing. It teaches dexterity, problem solving, and hand eye coordination to the children who play with it.” I said, “I don’t want to play a game that can’t be won, what’s the point of that?” The same is true with the multitude of business. The work is not purely for work’s sake, the work is so one can win. I don’t know about you, but to me, having a dream come true is winning.
Keep working, the dream will come true; all it takes is a multitude of business.
