Business by the Book
Nehemiah 6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
In less than three months the wall around Jerusalem was finished. In spite of the oppositions, the hardships, and the danger, the work was complete. Nehemiah’s planning, scouting, leadership, wisdom, integrity, and fortitude won the day. The wall that the enemy said could not be built was finished. Nehemiah’s story is an intriguing tale of human persistence and accomplishment. To be fully appreciated the entire book needs to be read and reread. We have only scratched the surface.
Needless to say America needs Nehemiahs, Texas needs Nehemiahs, and your community needs Nehemiahs. Men and women, who can see the need, become motivated, make a plan, and work the plan through to completion. Think about it, every product, every building, every road, even every social service began as a dream or vision in someone’s mind and heart. We call the people who bring these things to pass visionaries. So many times individuals only search for money; how about this, search for the need and the money will take care of itself.
In your business what is it that people actually need from the products or services you provide? Are the needs of your customers changing, is there a better way to help your customers be successful? Find the answers to that and your market will enlarge. Yes, there will be some opposition, some difficulties, some hardships, but the rewards are rich for those who are willing to endure such.
I believe it was the great hockey player Wayne Gretzky who, upon being asked about his success, said, “I don’t skate to the place the puck is, I skate to the place where the puck will be.” Nehemiah did not wait for the puck to come to him, he moved to the place the puck would be. How about you in your business?
